Chef Labs is a set of free cooking tools: Egg Timer, Paella Master, Beef Master and Rice Master. This policy applies to all of them. There are no accounts and no sign-up.

What stays in your browser

• Your last choices in each tool (egg size, paella settings, selected cut, rice type) and any running timer are stored in your browser's local storage so they survive a reload. They never leave your device.
• If you turn on "Notify me when done", the browser asks for notification permission. The notification is created locally when a timer finishes.
• You can clear all of this by clearing site data for chef-labs.com in your browser settings.

What we collect

• Standard web server logs from our hosting provider, such as page requested, time, and browser type.
• Anonymous product events through PostHog: which tool is opened, controlled setup choices (for example "large egg, soft"), and timer actions (start, pause, complete). We do not send free-text input, ingredient notes, or anything that identifies you.

Product analytics

PostHog helps us see whether a tool is useful and where a cooking flow fails. Automatic click capture and session replay are off. We do not identify visitors. A random identifier may be stored in local storage so repeat visits can be counted in aggregate. Analytics only run on chef-labs.com, respect the Do Not Track setting, and can be switched off here:

Chef Labs does not currently show ads. If we add them, this page will say so first, and the ad provider's use of cookies will be described here along with a way to manage it.

• To keep the site working and fast.
• To learn which tools and settings people actually use, so we improve the right things.
